My computer is infected with the belt.exe virus. I saw another post that said to deactive the system restore and then delete the belt.exe related files. How do I deactive the system restore function?

Just right click on My Computer, then click on the system restore tab and put a check inthe box that says turn off system restore on all drives. But hey....ur on Win 98...there is no system restore on that OS

You might have gotten instructions for a WinXP machine. Win98 doesn't have a system restore function.
They `might' have meant to delete the restore files. Scanreg saves to restore files as c:\windows\rb001.cab through rb005.cab.
But I would get more opinions.

I think they did mean XP. Don't delete the cab files, they won't interfere and could be handy if you get into further problems. In the long term they will be replaced one by one on each new boot day.
