I want to format my entire c drive, and then install windows NT on it but as far as the whole formatting process goes, I am a little fuzzy. I tried typing format c in dos and the message" required parameters missing" shows up. I also get the message " parameter format not correct"

Hello Wizard, NEVER FORMAT A COMPUTER BEFORE TO BE SURE TO BE ABLE TO REINSTALL IT !!!!! Do you have ready to use the restore pack system of your computer: the floppy disc to be used as boot, and CDrom connected together ? if not, ask for information near your computer dealer.... otherwise you will be totally dead

I presume you have inserted a properly createdWindows Startup Diskette containing the required files like FDISK.EXE and FORMAT.COM [often in EBD.Cab] in Foppy Disk Drive and then Rebooted to get the DOS Prompt A:\>
If so, make sure to type at A:\> Prompt, Format C: and then press the [ENTER ] key
The Screen will look like this:
A:\>FORMAT C:
Note there is a space after the "Format" command and before C:
Remember Windows NT requires NTFS File system and NOT FAT32 File system.

I'm thinking your problem is too simple to see. Did you leave off the semi-colon after the C? As Imp suggests you better come up to speed and quick or you will find yourself looking at a dead box. Please, before proceeding further, make and test a bootdisk with CDROM support at least. Next most common fatal foulup is not having CD key number to install the OS wanted.
