bad resolution with video card

I installed a voodoo3/3000 and the resolution is ok on desktop but when I go online the resolution looks like catoons or paintings. I have had this problem before and can not remember how I fixed it. Please let me know what to do.

Have you checked the display settings? What resloution are you running currently? Right click on desktop, then click properties. When Display Properties opens, click the tab at the top for settings. When this opens, does it list your monitor and video card in the line item in the middle labeled 'display'? and your resolution and colors will be listed just below that.
