Hi, if anyone can help: I was deleting Mcafee and accidentally got rid of an essential DLL. So I had to reinstall Windows 98. Now everything is fine except I can't get the graphics to work with anything more complex than 16 colors. I have a Intel740-854 display adapter card. Can anyone help me??

have you removed in system prperties, the card and rebooted so as to allow windows to redetect and reload the software(from scratch)?

No, but I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean take out the physical card, or something else? When you say "system properties" do you mean the cmos screen or "system" in "control panel?" ???

I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT MY ADAPTER IS A SIS 5598. IT WILL NOT DISPLAY ANYTHING OTHER THAN 16 COLOR AND BLACK AND WHITE. I'VE DOWNLOADED THE DRIVER NUMEROUS TIMES AND STILL NOTHING. IT WORKED FINE UNTIL I HAD TO START ALL OVER WITH WIN 98. IF YOU EVER FIX THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

go to control panel, then click system, then click device manager, then click display adapters, then click on your adaptor and click remove. after you have done this restart windows. it should detect your card and do a good install.

I've done that, deleting the card through Device Manager. And it does indeed detect and load the proper driver, or says it is. But nothing changes afterwards. It is still stuck in 16-color mode. EVERYONE has told me to delete through Device Manager. It's like the first level of what to do. I need to go to the next level of what to do, if anyone can help.
