Hi. I am trying to install win98 on my empty hard drive. I made a boot disk with cd rom support. When I go to the d:, it displays "D:\". I type "dir" and it lists all the files on the win98 CD. Then I type "setup" and it says "bad command or file name". I know setup.exe is on the cdrom, but for some reason it won't work... PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you using the Win98 Setup Disk?
If so the CD Drive is usually E.

If you made your own CD Boot Disk then
when you do a directory of D do you have
a WIN98 directory? if so CD to WIN98
and try SETUP again.

Use dir/p or dir/w and make sure you can find the file setup.exe

As has been said, the drive may have temporarilly shifted from D to E
