I'm running Windows NT Server and I have
two harddrives. One 40gig and one 60gig.
The main 40gig drive is used for storage
purposes on our network. I would like to
back up the 40gig to the 60 gig on a nightly
basis. Are there any programs that will
do a drive copy only on files that have
changed? I'm looking to automating something
if possible. Freeware would be great, but
I wouldn't mind buying some software if
needed.
Any info or pointers would be greatly apprecitated!

-Tyler

Hi Tyler.

You are in the wrong forum. Have you tried the Windows NT forum?

It's a basic operation, it doesn't matter
what OS i'm running, I want to back up
one HD to another HD... thanks for that
very helpful information.

Sorry, that message came off a little curt.
At any rate, it's a basic operation, outside
of computer program requirements the OS
shouldn't make a difference.

Hi Tyler.

Try using NTBACKUP.exe (command line) and AT.exe (command line interface to scheduler service). You will have to write a *.bat or *.cmd to execute the backup.

I think a search with "synchronize folders" or something like that would find something.
There is one that I know of called 'Second Copy'.

Hi Tyler.

I forgot to mention NT Backup can work via command line, features like what to backup up, etc. are simple switches that can be placed in the command line. You can then make a .bat file to further simplify the operation and in WinAT you can schedule the backup.

I setup quite a few systems to do just that. I use Seagate backup exec., its pretty good.
