Hi, My hard disk, SCSI, contains 1.13 gigs of files I'd like to know if I can back this up to my cd (700mbs disks). If so, is there a, preferably free, program that will allow me to do this? Thanks, John

Don't know of any freeware for image creation.
Nero BurningRom has an option to burn image of HDD. Not sure if it will compress though.
The best solution is probably Ghost or TrueImage. With Ghost compression, your 1.3GB will probably fit on a single CD. Both Ghost and TI will span multiple CD's for a single image.
Check eBay for a good deal on older Ghost versions. I picked up Ghost 2000 PE for $7 and it works like a champ.

you need to have a cd burner, even better if you have dvd burner that can have up to 4.7gig of space to backup your files. if you only want to back up the file you do not need any special software program, just use the burner software to create the data disk and it just drag and drop tne burn the cd/dvd. I use nero which comes with my dvd burner.

You can usually find the OEM version of Nero for about $5 at many online surplus sites...

From your question I assume you only need to copy files, not create an image. If so, I've been playing with this, which is free:
