Is there any way if your computer, was sold with an operating system, Win 95 second edition, w/o the cd is there a way to pull it off and burn it for a back up.
**I do not think it's fair to load an operating system on when u buy it new and not give u a disk for sam.
Computer: Compaq Presario 2200.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Search the hard drive for a series of .cab files.
They could be located anywhere on the hard drive but are mostly located in C:\Win95.
Click on Start, Find, Files or Folders.
In the named box type *.cab
In the Look In box ensure your C: drive is selected.
Click on Find Now.Look for a series of files named Win95.cab and note the location to the right.
Copy that directory to the CD.

I could e-mail or "Snail mail" you a copy of it. just the os install or the cd extras to, it would be totally legal to since you have an OEM win 95B that I have, just simply record you key by right clicking on My computer, choosing properties, it should look like: (THIS IS NOT A VALID KEY!!! USE YOUR OWN SO MICROSOFT DOESN'T SUE ME AND YOU.) you can run install and when asked for key type in one you found.

Thanks guys, not trying to pull one over on Microsoft, but I was not rightfully given a separate windows 95 cd, which I think is to totally obsurd, not to mention unfair, just the recovery cds, one likes to dictate one's own computer destiny and should be given this disc in my opinion when buying a new computer at your local computer store.
But this was not the case and face it guys, u can't do with a recovery cd what u can do with a windows cd, some ISPs require it for troubleshooting purposes, they even ask u to put it in and once u say u have "recovery cds", u r off the list. I have argued with the fcc about a former ISP who did not mention anything aout "requiring" one to have a separate windows cd before being helped. On calling the ISP about 3 years later it was thrown at me I didn't have a separate windows cd so they didn't have to help me at all, I mentioned - no contracts stating this, nothing in writing, but was still refused help, an fcc report was generated.
About 2 months later a friend of mine signed up for the same ISP and I asked how they liked the ISP and the response was "man they drilled me about a windows cd, made sure they told me and kept repeating this, u have to have a separate windows cd, I just chuckled.
The only reason I am still with them is I love my page, but do not dial up with them. Haven't had any trouble changing web page, etc., so I can't say if they will help me now r not.
So, u see this is not for devious purposes, but to own my own windows cd even if a back up for my very own and for no other reason, which I rightfully should have been given when I was sold my computer back in 1996.
Thanks.

I am in the same situation except with xp home. i didnt even get a recovery cd. they said the dont have to give me a cd because it has a restore partition. i would really like it if some one could send me a "backup" of xp home yes i have my serial number if you can e-mail me with the details and i will give ya my address.
