Reply: (edit)it sounds like you haven't set the cd up to accept data. Read your cd manual on how to do this.

Reply: (edit)I am curious...what program are you using to back up with? Microsoft's or a program that came with your cd -- or what? Some programs want the cd to be formatted before you even try writing to them, some programs will do the formatting as they go along. Check out Adaptec/Roxio's website (or numerous other cd help sites on the web by using "google.com" search engine or other search engine). Backing up to cd is a real nice deal when space is an issue.

Reply: (edit)I also am curious as to what program you are using to back up your files. Sounds like you are using your Microsoft Backup program and choosing your cd-rw as the desitination, and I don't think that is possible. You should probably go into your cd program for burning a disk and choose data files. Then drag and drop each appropriate folder you need to backup(such as: downloads)into your new cd section and then burn the cd from there. I just did this yesterday with a few files on a friends pc. Hope this helps.
