Hi,
I backed up my tally data and recorded into a CD. But recently my hard disk crashed. I tried to restore data from my CD. But it is showing different file name eg. Tally.001 is shown as $all.001 and when i am trying to restore it it is giving me error " Insert Disk in A:\" I tried to copy it in floppy, but it is giving same error. I tried to copy it to Hard disk but then same error. I tried even to rename the file, but no use. Please Help
Thank you
Amit

How was that "backup" performed? - If you used a Software Package to "Backup", then you MUST use the SAME Software to "RESTORE".>> But it is showing different file name
This indicates that the data was stored via a Software Package's internal BACKUP routines, not via a COPY from the OS level. Therefore, attempts to RESTORE via the OS Copy are doomed to failure.>> and recorded into a CD.
I suggest that you copy the file(s) BACK to the original BACKUP media. - either the Floppies ar HDD Folder where the original Software performed the Backup. Then attempt the RESTORE. - YOU MUST REMOVE THE READ-ONLY ATTRIBUTE FROM ANY FILE(S) COPIED FROM CD!
ie ATTRIB -R filename.extHope this helps you get your data back.
Baldy.
