back up copy of ms office 97

i have been trying to make a back up of my office 97 disk and for some reason it changes the file ext. for the setup files it will still auto run but the set up icon does nothing i have tried to just copy the disk and i have saved it to my hard drive and neither have worked . i have a hp 8366 pII 366 64 megs of ram i have a kenwood 72 x cd rom a hp 7200 plus cdrw i have all of the firmwear updates no viruses i would assume that this is a anti piracy problem but my disk is scrached up and i cant afford to buy a new one has any one found a solution for this problem ? paul11059@msn.com
