AVI motherboard sound driver

After reinstalling w98 my AVI motherboard (VT82C5968)has no sound. Could anyone tell me where i can find a proper sound driver or a way to fix this problem? Thank you in advance,

Hi Alex, You may need to be a bit more detailed about your motherboard specs. If you don't have any documentation, and you can't find decent printing on your board - you can run SiSoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.net/) and click on the 'mainboard' icon to get some better detail. I know the vt82c596 via southbridge was used by a lot of mainboard manufacturers.

I am sure it should read VIA motherboard Chip set and you can go to the VIA web site and download the Codec AC97 sound drivers if that is what VIA put on it but again it depends on who's Motherboard it is. ASUS? MSI? etc. Need more info
