avi compression

I have a problem with compression of avi files. I get different error messages regarding the problem. I can play avi's I can even save noncompressed avi files, but whenever I try to compress avi file I save files with 0 bytes.

What are you using to compress them with? I can compress them with Winzip, no problem.

My problem is that I cannot play AVI files which have been compressed! Do you know a good avi plyer that will play compressed avi files

I have the same problem as david (response #2). I need to compress .avi files so that I can put them on a CD-RW (650-700 MB)and still play them with some sort of player. Zipping them up does'nt help any unless someone knows of a ZIP player (ha ha). HELP!!

Use a "codec" (compressor/decompressor). There are several AVI codecs, the most popular being the Microsoft Indeo. Go to the Microsoft site and download the Indeo compressor and then use it to compress your AVI files. You can also use a program like Adobe Premiere, which contains several codecs you can use. Good luck.
