Where do these 2 files belong?
I pulled out because of problems shuting down. Corrected problem. Forgot location. Moved from recycle, therefore cannot restore.

Need to reinstall to original position

Autorun.inf is a file that should normally only be found on the root directory of a CD... Autorun.exe is an arbitrary name (setup.exe and install.exe are other often used filenames) for the file that is automatically started by autorun.inf

there shoudn't be any reason to look for this file somewhere as there is a different autorun.inf for every CD.

Since CDs are read-only, I don't see how someone could loose this file !

autorun.inf is a very important file....
like autoexec.bat for hard drives, is a text
file with automatic commands that lounch
images...programs...setups...autoruns.exe´s.....etc...but only works in cd-roms....

You can only run applications (.exe, .com) with autorun.inf. Other files require quite a bit more work to get to auto-open. Include the powerpoint viewer on the CD and run that with your file as an argument to it. (pps is powerpoint, right?)

my cd's dont work. the cd rom reads the cd and i can even play audio CD's, but i think my autorun file is corrupted. Like if i put a CD in, i can find the atuorun.inf file, but the *.exe file wont play for some reason and thus the program wont start. What do i do??

I see people have made similiar statements above but for me I haven't found a suitable answer so perhaps someone will see this and know how to fix.

Question#1: And way to Program an Autorun command to see if the avalable programs to run your CD are on the users computer? i.e. I ahve an HTML document. I want to see if the User has a Browser on their laptop!

Question#2: Any way to Automatically Install missing/needed files (like.DLL's) to the users Laptop/PC so that the CDR/W will work on their PC/Laptop?

Finally, anyway to configure a CDR/W (Autorun file or command) to "ENABLE" the users PC to accept the CDR/W's autorun command if they have it turned off?

use notepad and create this file and save autorun.inf

[Autorun]
open=yourfile.exe
icon=your.ico
you have to save root director of your CD.
it is okay! just do it.

Autorun.inf is created by you in say notepad and can only start .exe and .com files as per previous messages. If you want to start an .html file in your browser you need to pass this as an argument to a .exe file. You could run Iexplore.exe, but a better (more universal) way would be to use autorun.exe. You can buy this off the 'net. Just type Autorun in a search engine to find a re-seller.
