Comment:

I have a racing game called NASCAR 3. I burned a copy of it and it works great if I play it in my burner (Lite-on 32x12x40x) But when I try to play it in my CDROM it will not start up. There is a autorun.exe file on the CD so why doesn't it autorun? The CDROM is quite new. Is there a way I can add autorun.exe before I burn the game?

[autorun]
open=autorun.exe

Is there more to it ?

Thanks

Have you looked at the drive with the CD in using the file explorer to see if it shows any content at all? You don't mention the exact method used to copy it, but it sounds like the disk was never closed out to read in standard CDROMs.

I'm sorry, I don't understand your question.
I used the Nero wizard to burn the disc, yes it was closed out.

he want's you to see if you can read the disk at all in your cd rom, you may have autorun disabled in the setup of the cd-rom in the device manager. Make sure there is a check mark in the Auto Insert Notification box for the cd-rom

Either that or the Media type (cd it's self) is not compatable with the cd-rom.... is it a re-writable cd?

Auto Insert Notification is checked off as well as DMA. When I put my newly burned CD in my CDROM drive absolutely nothing happens anywhere. It does not show up in My Computer. Although store bought CD's works just fine including the original NASCAR 3 CD. There's got to be a way to add an additional autorun.exe to a session before burning the original. Im sure somebody knows how to do it.

Copy all the files to the HDD first, and check the directory to see if it has the autorun file.

If the original CD would autorun and the copy will not, you may be a "victim" of copy protection. Then again, home creation/copying of CDs is not a perfect science. No doubt all of us has burned a coaster on occasion. Vtech has a good point. When in doubt, copy to HDD first. Under the right connection situation, even buffer underrun protection is not perfect.
