Automtatic dail-up in Win98

My system is trying to dail-up automatically, with no prompting. (This seems to happen approx every 30 min). I don't know how to stop it. Can anyone help??
I am using Windows 98, on a Pentium II system.

I had the same problem. My solution was to click clear the small square at connecting window before connecting to the net. I hope this help you.

You probably have an email package that is configured to check for mail every so 30 minutes. Disable that and you should be fine.

Open regedit..go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\INTERNETSETTINGS.

you'll find a value called EnableAutoDial.
Set that to zero and it will never again try to connect.
