Hi, earlier on my Win98SE, when i used to do shutdown my computer used to auto shutdown, (ATX). Now that i have reinstalled my OS (Win98SE) It does not auto shutdown . Infact even the "It is safe to turn off your computer" screen does not come. (Earlier this screen used to come and then it used to auto switch off) Now I have to switch it off from the main power supply because I the ATX does not switch off when i press the button. Help

Do you mean it is now hanging at shutdown & that the power switch isn't working? As far as switch goes have you tried holding it for a few moments - it should go off then.
Try disabling fast shutdown to cure the hanging problem.

You should havee the option in the Bios for autoshutdown and in some you can change the power button to standby instead of shutdown. So check your Bios, if this doesn't work post back.

There are known issues with Auto Shutdown. Go to Microsoft's web site and search on "auto shutdown" and review some of the articles there to see if you find the one that addresses your specific issue. It could be hardware dependent.
