I have a new Gateway PII/400 PC with a SoundBlaster AudioPCI 64D soundcard. I use Netscape 4.06 as my browser. I have no problems with audio with any other applications, but NetMeeting is giving me fits. I can connect fine, and both speak and listen with no problems (albiet the speach sometimes breaks up a bit, but I hear this is normal). I am not using video - just audio. The problem is that after anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, I stop transmitting. Luckily I always have an ICQ chat window open with the other party, and I just wind up listening to them, and having to type my responses (bummer!). I have tried everthing I know - adjusting the mike's sensitivity, reducing the bandwidth setting from 28800 to 14400, and turning the duplexing off. The only way to get transmissions back is to completely exit out of NetMeeting, rerun it, and reconnect. Then I might just get another couple of minutes before it stops again. I would greatly appreciate any advice on changes I could make to fix this problem. My fingers are tired of typing responses in chat windows!!! |
