I have windows 95. In device manager there is a (!) over my Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro. There are no conflicts. I have sound when games are played in DOS but not windows. I also get an error message when loading "windat" that "Audio Driver not opened" and "Audio Driver Disabled" I have reloaded windows 95 and still have the same problem. I hope someone can help out here. Thanks so much.

if you have an "!" next to your sound drivers this means that they are not working .

what you need to do is you erase the driver. .. remove it.. high light it and remove it.. then.. restart your computer and it will recognize new hardware.. for that you now need your drivers for the sound card.. insert the cd/floppy and click "have a disk" and look for them...
hit ok.. the drivers will be load.. and you will have sound now..

good luck

I don't understand the logic of reinstalling the OS when one audio driver is corrupt.
As you have found out it didn't change anything.
Having said that, (& not with the thought of scolding you in mind) try this.
Remove the device in Device Manager, reboot & let it redetect the hardware.

I've tried both these suggestions and still come up with the same problem. Is there any other advice? Thanks for all the help.

The yellow exclamation mark is a conflict. That is why you are not working in windows. Have you gone to the web site of your sound card and got the newest updated drivers?

Follow the creative troubleshooter at the first link below, and download the drivers at the second link if needed.
