at to atx power supply problem

I replaced the AT power supply with an ATX power supply. my motherboard (asus p5-AB)supports both at and atx form facor. but after swapping power supplys, the leads to the on /off swith from the AT psu are differnt. after hooking up all wires, there were i set off wires i could not connect. one bundle of 2 yellow, and 2 black wires with a sqare type coonector coming form ATX psu. what do these plug go into? i cant seem to start the computer. please help.

An ATX power suppy is controlled on and off by the motherboard.
I'm guessing that the leads you are discribing goto the motherboard. Your best bet would be to check the board's manual.
Goto this LINK and goto page 31 of the manual. Read about the "ATX Power Switch/Soft Power Switch Lead" for your motherboard.

im an idiot! i used the reset button the first time and it did not power up. i didn't notice I need to move the conector over 1 pin. when i notice the misplaced connector and moved it-----it powers up now! thanks for re reply, it got me thinking . oscar
