after I go through the shut down process my computer restarts by its self! so basically i have to unplug it to shut it off!
please help! (I selected shut down not restart when asked)

i had a similar problem at one point have you installed any software/ Games recent to the problem if so the problem lays int either the autoexec.bat file and or the config.sys file (if you donot know how to change these safely i would not reccomend editing any of it)

its kind of a tricky promlem to advise on without knowing what the 2 files look like before and now

(knowing what it looked like before might not be crucial)

had that problem before installing the
shutdown supplement from ms posted on your previous post. also enabling usb in bios/setup sometimes will fix this .if it doesn't work just disable it.

If you have LAN Card set to auto wakeup its possible that it will auto reboot for you.

Creating Shutdown, Restart and Logoff Icons
Added 1/8/00

To create the icons, create a shortcut on the desktop.

For Shutdown, the command is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.exe user.exe,exitwindows

For Restart, the command is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.exe user.exe,exitwindowsexec

For Logoff, the command is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.exe shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 0
