asking for xp disc, disc in drive

i want to install word from an xp office pro disc. i have started the set up process the disc is inserted i have selected the word programme to install but then i am asked for the disc ? i installed excel using this method months ago what can be the problem?

Hi Arthur Why don't you try inserting the disk and let the autorun start. From there you can choose a custom install and then choose to install Word only. I'm not sure why it would ask for the XP disk. I haven't had that problem before and I install Office and parts of Office on a regular basis. As for FJB, Arthur wasn't using programme in place of setup, he meant he chose the program WORD which is the program he wants to install. HTH MindsEye
