Comment: Please, can someone guide me how to download W98 system to Armada M700 LAPTOP? I already did fdisk and format operation but confusing part is the CD Room and Floppy Room are not combo and I do not know what to do next. Jurek

Reply: (edit)Sorry, maybe it's because I'm from the UK but I don't know what you mean by "not combo". If the two drives are working download a W98 bootdisk with CD-ROM support (a Startup disk already made in Windows will do if you have one). You boot up with the floppy in the drive. You might get a temporary change in the drive letter. A startup disk will usually move the letter up one (D to E or whatever) and some download disks move to R. Once you have changed to the drive you put in the W98 CD and type setup.exe Derek.W

Reply: (edit)Dear Derek: Armada m700 has only one room for floppy and cd drives. You have to switch them manualy.
My other laptop IBM I21 has 2in one box, compacted.

Reply: (edit)If you can boot from the cdrom and your windows cd is bootable (I believe the OEM disks are the the retail disks aren't) then just boot from the cd. Otherwise I can send you a bootdisk that will copy the necessary files to your drive. Basically you make the hard drive bootable and copy the necessary dos files to it to recognize the cdrom. Let me know.

Reply: (edit) Thank you for your support. Sorry for delay. Thank you for your suggestion. Right now the problem is, my DC charger become dead and I can't use my laptop. I don't know what is happen; this is a second charger in last month. Right now I bought Sony Vayo charger on eBay and I want to us it with my Armada. The voltage is 19.5v but I can adjust it the important think is a power. Instead of 2.7 A Vayo has 4.1 A. If everything goes right I will inform you guys. Jurek

Reply: (edit)As long as the voltage is the same the amperage shouldn't matter as it will pull what it needs. The amperage rating is a maximum and not a constant output as is the voltage. Make sure the +/- power supply connections are the same as the Armada.

Reply: (edit)If your DVD player isn't showing in 'my computer', that's a different problem than if it's there but not playing DVDs. 98 will see your DVD player as a regular cdrom and won't need any additional drivers. If you mean your DVD is showing OK but not playing DVDs it means you need to install DVD player software--PowerDVD, WinDVD or something similar. Which is the problem you're having?
