This is about how to fix the trojan virus which causes the following error msgs to popup over & over.. ---- windows socket error: (10049), on API 'ASync Lookup' ---- and another almost identical 'cept it says "on API 'connect' " ---- I wanted to say Thank You all so VERY much! I had the annoying repeating error msg trojan for like.. 2 days. it's so nice to boot up my computer, and not have a long column of error msgs when i come back after 5 mins. anyways.. here's how i fixed it, thanks to all of you. first i went to: [ http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/ ] it let it scan, yet none of my 6 viruses were able to be accessed, or cleaned. so i selected the whole list, and clicked "delete" granted.. it got 4 of 6.. and there errors were still there. so i wrote down the lil beasties. and rebooted. while my computer was restarting i pressed F8 until the safe-mode screen came up. next i hit shift+F5 which put me into command-prompt mode. finally i entered in: "DEL " followed by the full name of there the virus is (mine were C:\windows\gspan.exe & C:\windows\system\winload.exe) i was alittle edgy about deleting the winload.. considering it was a sys file & sounded kinda important. but i did anyways.. This did the trick, and my computer is happy as i am. =P Good Luck!
