Has anybody got one of these Tv cards based on the conexant/brooktree 878 chip ? mine will not work properly under any OS (particularly win98) - garble screen, and very poor reception, no sound (just white noise). there are no hardware conflicts - does anyone have any experiences with this card ? It might be duff.

I have the same problem. I have to reinstall the software each time I use the card otherwise it crashes. Have u found any new drvivers for it?

After installing creatives live platinum soundcard the problem you are referring to occured on my pc too. What I did was to disable the SB16 simulator which is SB's dos driver. After that my pctvcard has been working and my computer stopped crashing.

I recently installed the 878 myself and I find that It only runs for about 30 senconds then locks up the whloe system. Any one have any suggestions?

I was thinking of getting the Viewcomp 878 ... if it supports Windows 2000. I currently have a Zoltrix Genie-TV ... works okay, but the remote control isn't supported in Windows 2000 ... which is why I wanted to switch. However, I found that software bundled with these cards are pretty crappy ... there is a generic (HIGH END, AND FREE) Tv Tuner application that I managed to find... supports the BT878 chipset flawlessly! ... it's called dTV, check it out at http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/
it should work fine... I don't know if the remote control will work w/ it though.. but it's worth a try. Very stable app.
Peace,
Justin

Hi,
Sorry to bother you, but I am having similar problems, but have not been able to find a stable driver / application combination.Powervcr II 3.0
Works intermitantly. When it works I can use all its features, all work perfectly except for the audio which is somewhat garbled. There are no device conflicts.
When it does not work its starts very slowly, and response is very sluggish.
It will crash after a few minutes of operation with a blue screen, and the computer will reboot automatically.WinVCR
WinVCR will start up and allow me to see the video and hear the audio on whatever channel it happens to startup on. The audio is sometimes somewhat garbled, sometimes not.
WinVCR will crash after several minutes of operation with a blue screen, the computer must then be powered off in order to restart.
WinVCR will crash if I try to access My Computer -> Manage (Computer Management Console). In all cases I can hear the audio or the white noise when Windows 2000 is starting up, sometimes the sound is turned off, sometimes it's not.
Can anyone suggest a fix?
