Hi Martyn...
You can follow this sequence to stop AOL from automatically loading/starting up... Go to "Start", select "Run", type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotation marks, of course). Click the "Startup" tab in the System Configuration Utility window, then un-check your AOL version that is listed. Reboot, and see if that worked for ya!

Hi, I would do a virus scan. That'd be your best bet. Something is wanting you do dial out to spread itself. I have seen this before. Make sure your antivirus software is current. To disable it from starting when you boot up, go to Start----->Run and type in msconfig. Then choose the startup tab and find AOL and uncheck, then it'll ask you to restart. Hope this helps, ~winipcfg

Also, go the properties of your Connection and make sure the Never Dial option is ticked. Otherwise, whenever you hit a web link, you will dial your default connection (which is AOL, I assume).

Maybe moot now but back then..... Also check your Startup folder. When I was on AOHell it placed an autorun in that folder.
