Hi Martyn...

You can follow this sequence to stop AOL from automatically loading/starting up... Go to "Start", select "Run", type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotation marks, of course). Click the "Startup" tab in the System Configuration Utility window, then un-check your AOL version that is listed. Reboot, and see if that worked for ya!

Hi,
I would do a virus scan. That'd be your best bet. Something is wanting you do dial out to spread itself. I have seen this before. Make sure your antivirus software is current.
To disable it from starting when you boot up, go to Start----->Run and type in msconfig. Then choose the startup tab and find AOL and uncheck, then it'll ask you to restart.
Hope this helps,

Also, go the properties of your Connection and make sure the Never Dial option is ticked. Otherwise, whenever you hit a web link, you will dial your default connection (which is AOL, I assume).

Maybe moot now but back then..... Also check your Startup folder. When I was on AOHell it placed an autorun in that folder.
