Everything has been going fine, and then all of a sudden AOL opens when I boot up the computer. After opening, and I close it, the computer runs very slow. Don't know how this is happening. I haven't changed any settings. I've also ran Norton to check for viruses and haven't found anything. Anyone have any ideas?

What version of AOL? The last several have autostart options which you can set to NOT load when Windows opens.

Greetings Beth, I've experinced the same problems in the past with other chat services and discovered the way to prevent these from starting at bootup. Go to your start button, choose run, then type in msconfig, at that time you'll see 6 tabs, the only one you're interested in is "Startup", click on that one and you'll see several boxes that are checked; You should be able to see that AOL is checked and all you have to do is uncheck it and apply button, you'll also be asked to restart your computer, once you have done this you should have this problem corrected. I will assume you are running Windows 98 as this is an option for Windows 98... Good luck and if you see you want other programs not to start just follow the same instructions as written above...
