AOL 9.0 Problems with Windows XP

I have just bought a new HP Pavilion with XP. I have broadband and everything runs just fine except for AOL 9.0 or 8.0. AOL signs on and e-mailing is no problem. AOL does not have a browser function with links, urls, or any sites. Explorer and Netscape both work fine so the provider is not the problem. AOL insists after many calls that the PC has a problem. There is an error messag each time I sign on saying AOL detects a connection problem. I have deleted AOL 3 times ad used the CD to reinstall. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing AOL not to connect out?

I am having a similar problem. We've had 9.0 for months, but suddenly it started acting bizarre then quit altogether. We had the computer checked and it's running fine, but now 9.0 won't connect at all. It can't detect our modem (though 7.0 can find it and it works without a problem). 8.0 will allow us to log on but the external browser won't work at all. Have you found a solution to your problem? If so, would you mind sharing it with me? Thank you!
