Is there a way of telling whether I have a PCI or AGP BUS? I'm really confused, and I can't find answers anywhere! I have a PCI graphics card right now, but I want to get an AGP "ATI Rage Fury" graphics card for gaming. If anyone has answers, please give me an e-mail at PlasticSquirrel@ignmail.com

There a couple ways... you could peruse through your BIOS and see what you find, or you could just open up your case and look at the motherboard. The AGP port sits a little further back then does the PCI. Good Luck.

Looking at the motherboard, the AGP slot looks similar to the PCI slots. There is only one AGP slot (if you have one at all). As mentioned, it sits back further than a PCI slot. It is a brownish color as opposed to PCI white. The AGP slot is closest to the CPU (PII/PIII/Celeron systems) or power connections on the motherboard.

go to the motherboard manufacturers website and look it up. there you will find the specs for the board and the latest bios update
Summary: Following a rather strong rebuttal (from another forum correspondant...) re the idea the AGP and PCI slots can/do share the same IRQ, thought this might be of interest... http://www.apushardware.com/...
