Hello.
I am about to buy a Cannon FB620P scanner for the sole purpose of scanning standard sized photographs of model kits to e-mail to friends.
With that said, I was told that the Cannon FB 620P would be the best choice. Anyone have any experiences or heard anything good or bad about this machine? I heard from another friend that Cannon Printers are known to be very shabby. Are there better choices? My computer does not have USB and so I will need to use my parallel port.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Dave

About the Canon FB 620P it's a good scanner but GENIUS HR5 PRO it's better and i think it's about the same price..
About the printer the canon printers aren't good when we need better quality in printings, the Epson printers are very good but they are very slow. If you don't need photography quality the canon are good.
I work with images and i have a EPSON 1520 and get 1440*1440 DPI with photo paper.
Any more questions mail me

Dave,
I have the CanoScan FB620P and have had no problems with it in the 6 months I've used it. The only (minor) drawback is that it's fliters and retouch programs are kinda basic.
But since it comes with Photodeluxe 2.0 from Adobe it is just a minor drawback.
As far as printers, I have a HP Deskjet 697C which has done ok on printing photos. I also have it connected throught the serial port on the scanner and the scanner to the serial port on the computer and have had no problems with that configuration.
After you buy your scanner, go to the following URL. I has some very good info about the why's and wherefore's and how come's on scanning.
