I recently added a new hard drive to my computer. I was able to get it working but I had to reinstall windows. Now my drive has numbered directories (directory 0001, 0002 etc). When I try to access programs like Outlook Express i get the error drive is unavailable). Please help!!!!

Someone used dos instructions like recover that generate useless directories like you noticed on the hard drive .You will need to partition and format the hard drive and re-install your operating system and programs. Is your new hard drive the one you intend to set to Master and is the size larger than 32 Go?If so partition the drive to smaller chunks to get it to work. For example the primary C set active can be 10 Go and the balance used later on for extended ,logical drives.Good luck.

Actually what you describe is due to chkdsk or scandisk running and trying to correct a corrupted FAT.
You might want to look here at issues dealing with adding a drive.
It does sound like you need to start fresh and wipe the drives, reformat them and reinstall from scratch. This way you know you have a clean new install and don't have any dust bunnies hanging out that can become goblins.
