Comment:

My active desktop crashes on average, everytime I am on my computer. I am using Win98, I upgraded my memory from 64 to 196MB. No matter what I open, whether its windows explorer or just an ordinary widow or folder, it crashes and I would get the error to restore my active desktop. then after restoring, it wuld work for like a couple more mins then do the same thing all over again. What are the solutions to this problem?

Well, Mr. Bill Gates...what if a person doesn't "want" to disable their active desktop...why does this happen and what can you do to prevent it...I frequent some other forums and never get smart a$$ answers like that...

Well, Mr. Bill Gates...what if a person doesn't "want" to disable their active desktop? What would cause this problem...say with Windows 98...and what can you do to prevent it. I look in at other computer forums and don't very often see smart a$$ answers like that...why bother even posting if you are not going to be helpful?

well,
not to answer for mr gates but if you want to keep the active desktop enabled then expect your system to crash more often.

I've seen it all the time, the problem is the active desktop itself.
as far as I can see.
For the fix I'd suggest contacting microsoft but I seriosly doubt you'll find a fix.

Hi thegorx.

That is exactly my point. You get more crashed with it enabled. The easiest fix is to disable it. I have mine disabled for the reason you (thegorx) stated.
