Active Desktop Error At Startup

I have win98. at startup all of a sudden i'm getting the Active Desktop (i don't know what it says exactly) but the white background thing. why?

Not quite sure what you are describing or why it has suddenly happend, but presumably you know you can go to Settings/Folder Options/General tab and set to Classic style or whatever.

I had the same problem caused from wallpaper. Restarting got it back to normal and unchecking the "View as Webpage" in the active desktop setting.
