My speakers were fine till about till about 2 months ago when my bro erased just about everything on my computer. I had a friend who reinstalled windows 95 on my PC and now everthing is working fine except for my speakers. There is no Icon in the right hand corner and when i go to managment interface it says the speakers are not connected at all. They still make sound but i cant control them at all through my computer, i always have to stand up and do it manually. I think its in standalone mode but im too stupid to know how to get out of this mode. Also, for some reason my MP3s play louder than my CDs when i put them in the CD player. Another thing is that i no longer have any options on my computer in terms of volume or muting, balance, etc... and my microphone is not working. I cant access any of that. the only control i have is manually on my speakers like i said before. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark H.

You also need to enable USB. ACS 495 speakers are not digital. They plug into the sound card. However, the on screen software management program needs USB. Also, did you reinstall the on screen software management program software?
It sounds like you might also have sound card problems. I would reinstall the sound card drivers.
To get the volume control icon back into the system tray go to control panel\multi media and click the box to show the icon.
