Hello,

I often use public computers in an internet cafe, and now i am worried. I thought that when you delete the history, delete all offline content and delete all cookies, then all the information you type in would be gone. But i just discovered this is not true.

I just had a go at home on my win98 computer, running IE6. Even after clearing the history etc...
Even though the computer didn't seem to remember i had visited a web page, as soon as i started to type information into the form fields, it kept prompting for information i provided before. I know that the passwords aren't stored, but i was wondering if there was a way to delete all information that IE6 holds in terns of form data.
Thank-you for your assistance.

I'm not sure if unchecking autocomplete will delete the existing record or if it will even keep a record from being compiled. It may just keep the URLs from showing.

To actually delete them run something like a malware detection program like adaware that detects the MRU--most recently used--applications, files and URLs. That information can then be deleted.

If the internet cafe uses more secure browsers like Firefox or Opera, then clearing your history, passwords, form info, cookies, etc. is just a few clicks away via the Options or Preferences menus.

If on the other hand, they use IE, then you need to be just a wee bit more thorough to clean your session, although even that may not necessarily be enough....

If you're able to access regedit, go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

and delete all of the URLs listed.
