HELLO!

At the risk of being banned for overusing the message board i have more questions.

I have a couple of machines networked together to practise for the M.C.S.E's. One box has win NT4 and the other has win95, I am experimenting with restrictions using the policy editor. The windows box is also accessing the internet with a simple proxy prog.

I have the following questions:

1) When i type in a URL in the address bar on the windows machine, the full address of the site pops up in the drop down box if ive been to that site before, but if i click on this address to save time, i get the message "access to the resource http\\**************** has been restricted", yet if i type in the URL from scratch i can connect just fine, any ideas why this happens?

2)My briefcase seems to appear as a folder on the windows box for some reason, why? (yes i do use user profiles, local only).

3)when i use office97 on the win95 box, and i want to save a documents, "my documents" appears first, then i go up one level and the C: drive appears. This is not what i want to happen since i have restricted the C: drive in my computer using the policy editor. I would rather the C: drive not be visible from within word or whatever, and i want the shortcut i made to the A: drive or the home drive on the NT server to appear by default instead, is there a way to do this? perhaps make it appear in my computer?

thanks for any help you give, its is extremely helpful :O)

take care bye

Rowland

Re your # 3, just go into Word's Tools/Options/File Locations -> Double Click documents and change the default path to your required folder.
