Is the AC '97 Audio CODEC installed as a separate device? Can it be found as a separate line item in the Device Manager listing?
The motherboard I am using claims to have one on-board, and I just want to verify and install the appropriate device driver.

I have the advance (ac97) audio codecs listed in my add/remove programs.So yes they can be removed.Its not very good i am considering installing a pci sound card as mine keeps losing its driver for some strange reason.

Sorry i misread that a bit in device manager they have there own line in the sound,video and game controllers section.
