Comment:

Is the AC '97 Audio CODEC installed as a separate device? Can it be found as a separate line item in the Device Manager listing?

The motherboard I am using claims to have one on-board, and I just want to verify and install the appropriate device driver.

I have the advance (ac97) audio codecs listed in my add/remove programs. So yes they can be removed. Its not very good i am considering installing a pci sound card as mine keeps losing its driver for some strange reason.
