I have the asus a7v133-a motherboard and i have 4 hard drives. I have 4 hard drives and a cd-rom and dvd-rom.
I connected the 2 hard drives to the primary ata connector on the motherboard and those work. i connected the 3rd hard drive to the secondary connector and it worked (set as master). but i connected the 4th hard drive to the secondary connect as slave, but the system doesn't boot nor does the ultra ata detection find this 4th drive!
Can someone please point me in the right direction to get my 4th hard drive to work?

If you mentioned the model hard drive, I could be more specific. Try setting it to CS (cable select) and also, in your BIOS, set the parameters to AUTO. Sometimes when you mix different hard drive brands on the same cable, the jumper settings don't always work like they should. You might try setting the jumper to stand alone setting and trying it on the second controller alone.

Thanks for the help, but I solved my problem thankfully!
I had the jumper setting in the wrong place on the Master hard drive on the secondary ide cable, lol! After I fixed that, everything worked like a charm!
