Hi, Im trying to change the Japanese OS of Win98 on a Thinkpad and replace it with an English version Of 98SE. So far :
1. I ran an fdisc -ok 2. I reformatted using format c :/s - ok 3 .I tried to instal a brand new full version of 98SE . All went well until the final stage ; at 11 mins to completion it froze. i turned the power on and off several times no luck . I reinstalled twice and it froze at exactly the same point which is just at the start of the last instal sequence " setting up hardware and finalizing settings " Cant find any advice perusing the help menu in safe mode . Can anyone offer advice? Many thanks

Make sure that there is no anti-virus option enabled in the Bios. You can reactivate it after the install finishes.

To me it sounds like you have a corrupt install disk. It shouldn't freeze up... Does is always freeze at the same point ? If so,then try another setup disk.
