98drivers for HP CD Writer Plus

Please does anyone have the drivers for Win98, HP CD Writer Plus (CD16F)? The system is not recognizing this writer as new hardware, when connected as a secondary master. Thanks so much- the bios does show it but the EZ Adaptec doesn't recognize it as hooked up, so it doesn't burn.

It's not drivers you need. The 'add new hardware' won't come up when you install a cdrom. Is the writer showing up as a cdrom device in 'my computer'? If so, then the OS is seeing it properly.
Other than that, isn't that adaptec EZ stuff fairly old? I had it with my old 4X burner and it came with my 10X also but I didn't use it. I remember there was a limited number of drives it would work with. You could go online to get updates for it but I imagine that's no longer possible. If that's the burner software you're using then I'm sure that's the reason it won't work with the HP burner.

To reinforce Dan's post. Every burner program has to include a driver for the particular drive that it will be used with. If your software doesn't and there is none available, you will have to switch to another burner program.

Fairly sure you can download the HP drivers from their website which includes the HP writing software.
