Ok here is my problem. I finally got windows 95 installed on this thinkpad 755cx. I'm setting it up for a friend and they use People PC which requires IE 5.5. The 95b version on the laptop is 5.0. Where can i find the upgrade for IE 5.0 to get it to version 5.5? The ISP has to have IE, so no mozilla goodies. Hints?

much appreciation for the links :) The 1st link only comes up with 5.0 but it says 5.5. I'm downloading from evolt right now...I will try that tomarrow and get back to you all. These thinkpads are pesky things. Solid as a rock and durable, but picky as hell...kinda like peoplepc.

I tried the IE download from evolt. It goes into a DOS box and scrolls a bunch of error messages? I don't know if the problem is related to me using an enternal CD drive (backpack).... any ideas?

The easiest way would be to get hold of an old computer magazine cover CD.
They always had IE on them.Krystyna

It might depend on the error messages. When you ran the file it may have tried to create a temporary folder to extract the files to. If it tried to create it on the drive from which you were running it--a cdrom in your case--you would have gotten 'cannot create. . .' errors. I've noticed some HP downloads do that. I haven't downloaded that particular file so I don't know what it does when you run it.
You might try copying the file to the hard drive in a separate folder and then running it from there. It'll probably extract several files and folders. There may be a readme.txt file to tell you how to start the installation process, but it'll probably be a file named 'iesetup.exe' or something similar.

" a bunch of error messages?"
Not very descriptive. The last file I d/l'd from Evolt was a self-extracting archive which created a folder and extracted the setup & CAB files. If you're having problems, maybe see if you can open the file with WinZip.

sorry I know it wasn't very descriptive, but it flew by kinda fast. I copied the file to the desktop, and it looked like it was working. It ran a DOS box and started deflating the files, but when I opened internet explorer it was still the old version...

Heh - yeah, well once the files have been decompressed, you still have to run the actual installer(!)
It'll be something like IExxsetup.exe - just doubleclick it.
