I am having difficulty in printing with this program from my Epson C60 printer. It is an old program but my husband is more comfortable with it. I see from a previous help message you had some advise for them. Is there an updated verion of this program.

Please Help.

Hi Louise, what's the name of the program that you're using? I did a search for 8-in-1 wordprocessing Program and nothing came up on the Internet.

Spinnaker Software's Eight in One is an old integrated office suite for DOS (late 1980's vintage). There is a Windows version called WindowWorks but this is also rather old. It was written for Windows 3.1 but works under Windows 9x and ME. Going back to Eight in One, from the main screen (where it says Application, Desktop, File, Utility, Setup, Quit) you could go into Setup then Printer and try selecting different printers and see if that works with your particular printer. There are lots of Epson printers listed there and you may find one which is backward compatible with your C60. It's probably a matter of trial and error. I'm not familiar with your printer but I'm able to use Eight in One under Win ME and an Olivetti JP192 printer.

Good luck.

Boy, I sure got a lot of answers. Thanks. Please e-mail me with any information you have, I'd be more than happy to try anything. My husband does not like to work on the computer and I am encouraging him every day. I use Microsoft 2000 for all my programs.

Is Win9x the same as Win98?

Bob, I checked the Internet and all I got was this site.

Jez, You seem to know a lot about it. It is a 1980's vintage and I can use Dos or Wordprocessing. It drives me crazy that everytime you have to do something, you have to press escape, etc. I've tried the list of Epson printers to use but no print. The printer connects but I get a blank piece of paper.

Hmmm, I think it is a 3.1 version of Dos and wordprocessing. Will the linkPSF Windows Works 2.2 do the same as 8-in-1? Can I download it?

Thank you all. Please, Please, e-mail me with directions and ideas.

Louise

Win9x refers to win95, 98,98se and ME.

Yip you can download it. The files are in winimage format so you need to install that program to create 1.4meg install disks. It has a trail period for testing it out.

I have'nt tried WinWorks on Win2000 but it may work.

Hope it helps.

I've installed PFS WindowWorks under Windows 2000 to see what what happens and it works OK. WindowWorks has quite a different appearance to 8 in 1 so your hubby might find it a bit strange at first. It is however, much simpler than say recent versions of MS Word and may be a good way of introducing him to more up-to-date word processors!

Word Processor documents created with 8 in 1 can be loaded into WindowWorks as Better Working Format documents and then saved in the normal .wpd or Microsoft Word format. In the latter case they can then be read by modern versions of MS Word.

Jez thanks for posting that info. I've learnt a bit today too.

You'll be suppriced how many people I have provided that link to who used PFS WinWorks of one varient or other and needed to retreive old files.

I think at one stage a few clone and OEMs where shipping it as an alternative to the MS crap at the time.

The problem is the Epson C-60 is a
Windows Printer. It can't(won't) work in
DOS.

But it will work in win2000 and PSF WindowsWorks will print the 8 in 1 files.

So problem solved if Louise can get hubby to play ball ;)
