3 1/2 floppy drive shows as 5 1/4 in "my computer" on windows 98. I never heard of this - what could cause be?

I've been working on this computer for a bit now - I've installed a clean version of 98 but this thing keeps on crashing with blue screens and fatal exceptions.

I've tried upgrading to XP or 2k but couldn't get through the setup with out errors. I've tried setups on different disks but no success.

The owner told me he had Klez worm/virus a few weeks back that really put a hurtin on his computer, could Klez mess up bios or cmos?

This thing is a real basket case so any suggestions are appreciated - thanks.

It's a AI61 Shuttle board with 700 Athlon and 768 mgs ram.

did you check in the bios, usually under something like "standard setup" to see if the a: drive is set to be a 5.25? If so change it back.

To get in the bios, usually press a key like delete, f1 or f2, it normally prompts at the atart of bootup what key to press.
