hi im putting a second hard drive in a p233 with 96 meg or ram. if i put auto for the startup it doesnt find it as the slave but when i connect it on its own it finds it no problem should i install it and fdisk it on its own first then hook it up as the slave next to the old one after??. Even in the ide hdd detection in the bios thingy setup it wont find it,. i dont know whats going on the existing hdd is 3 gig i want to keep it and also install a 15gig quantam should i change the jumpers on the new hdd?? the cpu also fails to go to windows when there both hooked up i tried a startup disk but i dont really know how to use them. any help would be greatly appreciated thankyou in advance Kristy

I have had similar problems when the slave drive is the larger drive and the master is the smaller. Reverse them, make the 15 gig the master and the 3 gig the slave. of course you will have to move all the files over to then new master drive (15gig). The best way to do this is to use a cloning application such as ghost.
