I've just reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled WIN "98" and only have the options of 2 and 16 colors and not 256;any and all ideas welcomed,Thanks

yes, you need to install drivers drivers are software that makes hardware work right (IE, it will make your video card display all the colors) you need to find out if any cds came with the computer and see if you can follow the directions on them, (read the outside of each cd to see which device it might install drivers for) you probably don't have sound either, it's the same problem, the driver needs to be installed

If you've a computer made by a 'famous' manufacturer (IBM, HP, CompaQ, Dell, etc.) go to their Web site. i work in a IT Dept of a business, even tho im only 17 i been working with computers for quite some years. i ony been working here for like1 month but already found out how to solve a problem these lot have had with there pc's which is the same as you have got!! what i done was downloaded a driver for my video card, and then ALSO downloaded something called a Intel(R) Graphic Controller which i got from intels website, my computer is one ive made myself so it nothing to do with intel! try searching for a up to date driver, and then try looking for this graphic controller by searching for it, and ths shuld sovle the problem. try www.drdriver.com or www.driverheaven.com for drivers for your video card!!
