How do I change the color from 16 bit to 256 bit for a IBM compatable 100mz 64mb win95 operating sys.
Also what is PCI card sorry I'm a new computer user.
Renee

To change your colors you need to go to control panel/display/settings and click on colors. then you can select your different color mode.
There are three different slot types in your mother board. the long black slots are isa types. the smaller white slots are pci. if there is a grey one that is an agp slot. Brad......

Renee,
I am guessing that you want to change from 16 colors to 256 colors. 16 bit to 256 colors is a step down.
You can change your setting for colors by hitting;
Start Button->control panel->display->settings tab
Change to 256 colors there.
Your video card will need to be a 1 MEG video card to use 256 colors. If it is 2 Meg or above you can choose higher than 256 colors.
Make sure that you have the video drivers for the card installed.
PCI is the more modern type of slot that Pentium type motherboards have for the different adapter cards. Most Pentium motherboards still have 2 or 3 ISA slots which is the type a 486 and earlier will have, except for a few later model 486 boards which also have PCI type slots.
The newest motherboards have another slot-AGP for the latest video cards.Doug

Khan maybe you should post your question on the main board and not in someone elses posting. By the way you can make a password by entering bios at startup and choose password. Its self explanitory from there. Dog
