Comment:

I recently upgraded my motherboard, CPU, memory and hard-drive without a new Win 98SE reinstall - problem is it takes weeks to set things up again (for various reasons).

In Device Manager, I now have 2 instances of Direct Memory Access Controller the second (lower) of which has a yellow exclamation mark. Can anyone advise on whether this should just be deleted? Looking in Accessories, System Tools, System Information, Hardware Resources and DMA I get only one instance of Direct Memory Access Controller on DMA 4. DMA 2 has the floppy disk drive controller whilst my old Soundblaster AWE ISA card is occupying DMA's 3 and 7. The rest are all free.

Thanks

Andrew

Normally it's perfectly safe to remove anything in the Device Manager. Windows will reinstall anything it needs during the next boot.
