was installing second operating system (windows 98) but only got 16 colors. Was looking with Intel for my drivers (mobile intel 915 gm/gms) but they don't have drivers for windows 98 (only xp). When I want to adjust, system crashes and I have to reboot. Does anybody has a good working standard graphics driver, that makes more color?

I took a look around at the downloads here.
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-020149.htmYou're right - there are no graphics drivers other than for XP, or Linux, or 2000.
These laptops were not designed to be used with anything less than 2000.
Why in xxxx do you want to install Win 98 on this relatively recent laptop?
You would be far better off if you got yourself at least Win 2000, or XP Home!
......1. In any case, after you install Win 98 you must install the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility in order for the laptop chips to be properly recognized.
Of the ones listed only the first one is applicable to this laptop - the second one is for developers - all the rest of them don't cover support for the chipset on this laptop.
You can use it in Op systems back to Win 95, but
the release notes say:"The IntelĀ® Chipset Software Installation Utility is validated on the following Microsoft operating systems.
Microsoft Windows* 2000
Microsoft Windows* XP
Microsoft Windows Server* 2003 "That means it has never been tested on anything older than those operating systems!
......2. IntelĀ® Matrix Storage Manager1 - there are no downloads for less than Win 2000, but you could try the OS independant one.
.......................3. Once you install those drivers (*.inf files) you may then have enough information in Win 98SE fot it to be able to identify the exact graphics chipset and have a label for the graphics adapter. Intel didn't make that chipset - some graphics chip maker did - they may have Win 98 drivers, but don't count on it. It may even prompt you while booting after the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility is installed, the next time you boot - write down the name of the video adapter Windows finds if that's the case, and cancel installing the drivers for now. If Win98 wants to install just a standard graphics driver, let it do that.
......Otherwise, you're stuck with using Standard Win98 graphics adapter settings, which are already on the CD - at a great loss to the performance of the capabilities of graphics - unless you want to dig up a utility that can identify it which would have to be a very recent one, or open up the laptop and copy down the chipset make and model etc.
Loading Standard Graphics Adapter drivers.
Run the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility before you do this if you haven't already done so! You mboard will not work properly unless you do! They will probably load information identifying your laptop display (monitor) to Windows! If you don't get any prompts while booting specifying the specific graphics adapter........if Win98 wants to installjust a standard graphics driver while booting, let it do that.
RIGHT click on a blank area of the desktop -
choose Properties - Settings - Advanced - Adapter
Change - Display a list of all the drivers..... - choose Show All Hardware button - scroll to the top on the left -
Standard Display Types - try Super VGA -
if your display is screwed up - choose Standard PCI Graphics Adapter(XGA), and so on.It's not much use picking anything other than these Standard ones because all the drivers listed are ancient in comparison to your graphics.
