10101 Connection

This may be a stupid question, but I have looked and could not find the answer, so where else to look but right here. The connector on the back of computers "10101", what kind is this and what is it used for? Thank you.

It's a serial connector. it's name isn't really 10101, it's just showing you it's a data port.

its a serial port connection. used for some external modems and serial port mice.
