Hi all, Working on a computer (Compaq Presario) for my nephew and when it arrived there was nothing on the C drive and everything erased in the vir. D drive data file. When I try to restore from the disks & reboot I get the message "call Compaq or retailer". Is there someone out there that could help me get a working operating system (win98 2nd edt.) on this computer along with the needed drivers. The drivers and such are on the two disks I just need a little direction. I've worked on several different computers but this problem has me stumped! Thanks in advance! bbc

I'd do what the message says and call Compaq and have them walk you through it. I believe they store the BIOS on that D: partition. There are softpaqs you can download from the website, one for the BIOS to make a bootable floppy. I'd be reluctant to try this without talking to Compaq first unless you have experience working on Compaqs. It's a different ball game.
